YG's new girl group Baby Monster has set a new record for the fastest 100 million views for a K-pop girl group debut with their official debut song "SHEESH," signaling the spectacular emergence of a "monster rookie" that will change the global music market.
According to YG Entertainment, the music video for Baby Monster's official debut song "SHEESH" surpassed 100 million views on YouTube at 11:35 a.m. on the 11th. This is about 10 days after its release on the 1st of this month, a whopping 8 days ahead of the record for the fastest 100 million views for a K-pop girl group's first music video (18 days), which was set by BATTER UP.
It's also the fastest music video by a K-pop artist to debut since 2017. Even if you expand the scope to all K-pop girl groups, BLACKPINK is the only artist to reach 100 million views faster than "SHEESH. This shows that Baby Monster is on its way to becoming the next "YouTube Queen" to succeed BLACKPINK.
Their YouTube subscribers, which is one of the indicators of a loyal fan base, also surpassed 5 million on the 10th. Their official debut as a full seven-member group triggered a steep global fan expansion. Since the release of their first mini-album, "BABYMONS7ER," on January 1, the group has attracted more than 390,000 fans in just nine days. The cumulative number of views has exceeded 1.4 billion and is rising vertically.
With this, Baby Monster now has three billion-view music videos, including their two pre-debut songs. "BATTER UP" quickly surpassed 100 million views (18 days) and 200 million views (53 days), setting a new record for the fastest debut music video by a K-pop group at the time, while "Stuck In The Middle" reached 100 million views in 38 days despite being a ballad without a performance.
Meanwhile, Baby Monster released their first mini album "BABYMONS7ER" on January 1 at 0 o'clock. They are expected to familiarize themselves with domestic fans through music programs, broadcasting activities, and fan signing sessions. In addition, they will meet with global fans through a fan meeting tour in five Asian regions, starting in Tokyo, Japan, and going to Jakarta, Indonesia, Singapore, Taipei, and Bangkok, Thailand, as well as Japan's largest music festival, Summersonic 2024.
