Jungkook Breaks Records: First Asian Solo Artist atop Billboard 200

BTS's Jungkook has become the first Asian solo artist to hold the record for the longest run on Billboard's main album chart.

According to the latest chart (dated April 13) released by American music publication Billboard, Jungkook's solo album "GOLDEN" is ranked 154th on the Billboard 200.

Released in November last year, "GOLDEN" proved its popularity by staying on the Billboard 200, Billboard's main album chart, for 22 consecutive weeks, the first and longest period of time for an Asian solo artist.

On April 13, "GOLDEN" debuted at No. 30 on the Top Current Albums and No. 45 on the Top Album Sales, marking a week-on-week increase on both charts and its 22nd consecutive week on the chart.

On Billboard's Global 200 and Global (excluding US) charts, three of Jungkook's solo singles, "Seven" (#48, #23), "3D" (#187, #114), and "Standing Next to You" (#86, #45), entered the charts and remained on the charts for 38, 27, and 22 consecutive weeks, respectively.

"Standing Next to You" also debuted on the Pop Airplay chart at No. 39 for its 16th week on the chart, which ranks the top 40 songs in the pop genre based on weekly airplay on approximately 160 major radio stations in the United States.

Previously, Jungkook became the fastest Asian solo artist to sell more than 800,000 units in the U.S. with his "GOLDEN" album.

"GOLDEN" became the first K-pop solo artist album and the fastest studio album by an Asian artist to surpass 3.1 billion streams (unfiltered) on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform.

Jungkook was named No. 1 on Billboard's "The 2024 Billboard K-Pop Artist 100" and "Billboard's Greatest Pop Stars of 2023: Introduction & Honorable Mentions (Staff List)," and was honored at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) for "Seven" in the Top Global K-Pop Song category.
